This property was a more modern Western style hotel. The room was quite spacious and well laid out with a lot of free amenities provided including toiletries and umbrellas during the rainy times. They also had a bar and restaurant on the ground floor. The bathroom was clean and decently spaced out and the room that we were given had a lot of natural light. There was also a great luggage storage service at the sister location less than a block away which was open 24 hours. The location was also decent as it let us walk to the shopping areas as well as some of the sites in Gion. It was about a 5-minute walk to the closest bus stop and 15-minute walk to a train stop which seemed okay for Kyoto. The neighbourhood it was located in had a lot of restaurants and cafes that could be explored.

This is our second time booking a stay at a Kabin hotel in Kyoto. We find the Kabin hotels very clean, modern, and hassle free. The rooms are spacious compared to most, beds are plush and super comfortable, and bathrooms have nice showers. Most of all, they are centrally located in Kyoto and are well priced for what you get. We also like the additional touches such as their generosity with offering tea, towels, and small toiletries. The staff are very and helpful, and the Kabin app is useful for more than just checking it. We were able to request a late checkout with no problem through the app, and it also curated a small selection local places of interest that they partner with, such as a cafe, a florist, and a kimono experience. We love the concept and vision of the Kabin hotels.

Our triple room exceeded my expectations even though our view was of a neighbouring wall. The hotel has a good vibe when you enter. I understood the rules about limited room cleaning; laundry machines that barely dry clothes and limited help from staff even for check in. It is similar to an upscale hostel. The room was clean; the size was adequate for 3 people. I found it easy to put dirty towels in linen baskets in hallway and pick up new towels. So self service worked for me and I was pleasantly surprised. We kept our suitcases closed and stored them by the door. My adult son enjoyed the overpriced breakfast offered by the hotel. I would stay at Kabin Kyoto again mostly due to its location which was extremely convenient.

The location and helpful staff, who all spoke English, were the standouts. The beds were extremely comfortable. Having said that, there were quite a few small things that bothered us. We found the air in the rooms to be very dry, and had to ask for a humidifier, which they supplied. The laundry dryers were hopeless, and we would have appreciated some more hooks or drawers for clothes. Our Classic King room was very clean but spartan - no cutlery, no plates, not even instant coffee. It seemed designed to force you to their cafe, where the coffee was fine but a little overpriced. And the cups in the room were metal - they looked cool, but were actually too hot to pick up when full of freshly made tea.

The lobby and entire downstairs area are very nicely furnished, and the restaurant is very nice as well. The room was clean and comfortable. It was a bit quirky with the sink located in the bedroom instead of the bathroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and we slept great. The location is away from the main tourist area. There is a metro stop fairly close by. Unfortunately, we ended up taking expensive taxi rides to the bamboo forest and other attractions. You can walk to shopping and restaurants, and the beautiful river area. We felt at home in the Kabin, but for us it was very expensive because of the cherry blossom season, and our late booking of the room.
